We had a fantastic UN Day on November 3. At ICS we welcome and value diversity, and the United Nations Day is a celebration when we showcase the    various cultural and ethnic communities. 69 were represented this year. Here is a peek:

The celebration started with the students and staff walking along Medlock Road showcasing clothes, flags and signs, as family members and friends waved and enjoyed the the smiles and excitement.

After the parade, the celebration moved to the back of the school, where students opened the program talking about the IB Learner Profile.

They were followed by groups of kids who sang in French, Spanish and English. Inspirational songs such as “We are the world”, “I am the earth”, “We are unity” and “True colors” were performed.

Traditional Colonial, Kurdish, African and Indian dances energized and impressed the audience.

And what better way to show internationalism than through food and fellowship. Children and adults brought traditional dishes from their family/country: What a feast!

  1. Claudia,

I have 7 Dunwoody Woman’s Club members signed up to come for UN Day. We would like to help serve the lunch. I may have more after our meeting next Thursday.
