ICS has been “…making a world of difference, one child at a time…” for 15 years, and we are celebrating!
On November 3, 2017, we will hold our Annual United Nations Day (UN Day). At ICS we welcome and value diversity. UN Day is a celebration of various cultural and ethnic communities, and last year 63 different countries we represented on the Parade of Nations, along with “The World”.
ICS families, a form was sent home asking for the country your child will represent, food you will bring to the potluck, and permission for media release. Find the form HERE. Please send it home before Friday, October 13, 2017.
Help is needed to set up, clean up, and serve during the potluck. Please sign up HERE.
Here is a glance of our 2016 celebration: Students and staff walked along Medlock Road showcasing clothes, flags and signs, as family members and friends waved and enjoyed the the smiles and excitement.
After the parade, the celebration moved to the back of the school, where students opened the program talking about the IB Learner Profile.
They were followed by groups of kids who sang in French, Spanish and English. Inspirational songs such as “Together We Can Change The World”, “Man In The Mirror”, “Ready To Go” and “True Colors” were performed.
Traditional Burmese, Mexican, African and Indian dances energized and impressed the audience.
And what better way to show internationalism than through food and fellowship. Children and adults brought traditional dishes from their family/country: What a feast!
