“Ms. Allen really understands how diverse our school is and likes it very much. I think she is going to really understand our mission at ICS to make more diversity into our hearts”, a recent ICS graduate said after the candidates met the community a few weeks ago.

We are excited to welcome Ms. Allen as the Principal of our ICS family. Here is a message she wrote:

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of the International Community School.  I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich history and deep values. I have taught a range of students from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade, and I have served in a variety of roles in public schools, charter schools, and an educational non-profit organization.  My most recent administrative experience was in Atlanta Public Schools where I served as an Assistant Principal in an IB elementary school. I’m excited and eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to ICS and work with you as a partner in education to ensure every child’s success. Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue to build up the Beloved Community while ensuring our students are set up for success in a 21st century world.

It is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors feels welcome and valued at ICS. This trust and collaboration will enable us to meet any challenges we face in a positive, solutions-oriented way.  In this spirit of partnership, I invite you to attend one of these events to meet me before the school year starts:

There will also be additional monthly opportunities to meet with me as the year kicks off. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have ideas, questions, or concerns that you would like to discuss.

Thank you to everyone who has welcomed me to ICS so far. I anticipate a fantastic year, and I cannot wait to welcome our staff and students back very soon!
Ms. Allen

Some other comments that ICS families and staff wrote about Ms. Allen after her recent community presentation include:

“She makes me most excited about ICS’ future. . . I believe she has the passion and unique knowledge and understanding of the community she is walking into. . . I think that Julie can tell the story of ICS to potential donors very effectively. . . [Her] familiarity with IB and refugee students is a plus.  I think she seems to have the kind of passion and drive this community needs, and I believe she could be a unifier . . . She comes with a wealth of educational experience . . . and values relationships. . . I love her vision of school discipline. I think her positive, upbeat personality would be inspiring.”

Please help us welcome Ms. Allen and make her feel part of our family.
