Give the Gift of Transformation
What does transformation mean to you?
For me, transformation is personal, professional, and communal.
Six years ago, I walked through the doors of ICS with no idea that one day I would be leading this incredible organization. I started as a part-time HR manager, seeking a role that fit my family’s needs as I returned to the workforce. Julie Allen, my predecessor and dear friend, saw potential in me that I didn’t yet see in myself. When her own path shifted, she recommended me to the board to step into the Executive Director role, and without hesitation, I said yes.
Since then, the journey has been full of growth, challenges, and hope. From navigating Covid and lockdowns, to welcoming students back into our classrooms, to reconnecting with our broader community, transformation has been constant.
In our classrooms, refugee, immigrant, and local children sit side by side, learning not only math and reading, but also how to listen, share, and understand one another. They are growing into compassionate global citizens who see the world through a lens of empathy and possibility.
That transformation begins with belonging. When a child walks through our doors and hears their home language spoken, sees their culture celebrated, and feels truly seen and known, they begin to believe in their own potential. And from that belief, everything changes.
Transformation at ICS isn’t limited to people; it happens in the very spaces where our students learn, explore, and grow. Over the years, our campus has evolved alongside our students. From the addition of a new playground and garden space that serves as an outdoor classroom to our state-of-the-art STEM Lab, so generously funded by Vibha, these spaces are designed for hands-on learning, creativity, and innovation.
While our current building has served us well, we are preparing for our biggest transformation yet: a move to a new home site that will allow us to expand and serve more students, including the possibility of expanding to Pre-K and Middle School programs. This next chapter will give even more children a place to learn, grow, and thrive—but we cannot do it alone.
This Giving Tuesday, YOU can be part of that transformation.
Will you help us continue turning potential into possibility? Together, we can transform lives through education, empathy, and global citizenship, opening doors of opportunity for students today and for years to come.
