EmorySOM-RefWeek

Student volunteers from the Emory Refugee Medical Alliance (ERMA) will bring donated school supplies and participate in an art project with our fifth graders on Wednesday, August 24. They will also facilitate a discussion about health that will tie into the fifth grade curriculum with a focus on “Rights and Responsibilities.”

ERMA hosted a Refugee Health Week at the Emory University School of Medicine from August 8 through 13. This week included several educational events to raise awareness among medical students about the refugee experience, the refugee community in Clarkston and the barriers that many refugees face to appropriate healthcare. During ERMA’s Refugee Health Week, students also launched a school supply drive to benefit the International Community School (ICS) and raised funds to purchase art supplies for an upcoming project with the ICS fifth grade students.
