For many 5th grade students, it was the first time to see the beach. It was a great trip to the Driftwood Education Center on St Simons Island. Between Monday March 6th and the 8th 2017, students learned, in classrooms, by the water, a camp fire, and at the beach. From bird brains, to habitats, and mud pits; learning about science and about cooperating and working together, it was an experience of a life time.

For two and a half days in the Georgia coast, students and teachers experienced sharing cabin space during the night, and exciting learning adventures during the day. They got to know things they did not about others, and from one another, as they interacted during learning and fun activities.

Thank you to all parents and staff who contributed to this effort, and to our chaperones Ms. Lori, Ms. Katelynn and Mr. Gilles. Special thanks to the Dunwoody Woman’s Club who donated funds for the trip of students who otherwise could not have gone, and to our fantastic 5th grade teachers: Ms. Hudson, Ms. Sherry, Mr. Drew and Ms. Enrika, who invested so much effort in making this life-long learning experience happen.
